11:25 Storytelling Session | A Cross Functional Perspective on the Data Management Journey
The data management story at Franklin Templeton Investments has had several milestones. In 2007 data was seen as a promising asset and a team of data librarians was assembled and directed from the IT side of the business. After a bit of a bumpy road, senior leaders agreed in 2013 that the business needed to drive and own data and a new approach was born to bring data to the business side and develop a new structure for governing data. Over the last year and a half the data council has prioritized integrating governance and stewardship into the company culture while identifying key areas of focus. During this session, three data leaders will share the story of maturing the data management program and competing as a key priority.
Speakers will share thoughts and experiences on:
• How to best get the ear of the executive suite and align with business goals
• Competing as a key priority across different lines of business
• Shifting from implementer of processes to strategist and thought leader

14:10 CDO Panel Discussion | Leveraging the Investments in Data Management to Drive Value Beyond Reporting
The vast majority of CDOs and Heads of Data Management must demonstrate the value of data governance within 12-18 months of developing a program. Within the biggest banks, regulatory pressure is driving immense investments in data management capabilities, but what are the next opportunities beyond reporting? How can you leverage what you’ve built to drive value beyond regulatory compliance?
Leading data executives will discuss:
• How value is being demonstrated to the firm
• How decisions are being made around the onboarding of new technology and systems
• Approaches being taken in the shift for more dynamic data and leading indicators
• Ways that data is providing insight into new opportunities

15:30 Panel Discussion | Walk Before You Run, Data Governance Essentials
Data governance is a key pillar for data management, though it is frequently seen as a defensive activity. Few people want to own it, because if you get it wrong, it’s your fault. How do you gain buy-in for a data governance program and roll out a structure? How can you quantify the value of data governance?
Find out:
• Skillsets to look for and develop in data stewards
• How to define clear roles and responsibilities
• How to map critical data you want to proactively and intensely govern and assign accountability
