Pamela Armstrong

Pamela Armstrong was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, in Washington, DC and followed up with graduate work at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. Pamela also received a law degree from The American University in Washington DC and is a member of California Bar Association.

During her law studies she held several legal intern positions including at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., the DG Bank Deutsche Genossenschaftsbank in Frankfurt, Germany and at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in Washington, D.C.

Pamela began her career in the financial services industry working at Société Générale Bank, Frankfurt, Germany. Over the 11 years at SocGen she worked as an account executive in Export Finance, Multinational Corporate Finance and German subsidiaries of French corporate customers servicing all of their financial needs.   

In 1995 Pamela was hired by Franklin Templeton Investments in Frankfurt, Germany. As a senior manager she was responsible for the servicing of mutual fund shareholders, broker/dealers and financial institutions, including back office and call center activities, for northern and central Europe as well as for offshore business in the US and South America with a staff of ca. 130 in Germany, United Kingdom and  the United States.

In 2003 Pamela returned home to California and began work at FTI headquarters in San Mateo.

Initially she was responsible for the administration of alternative strategy products including coordination of all legal, compliance, tax, accounting and servicing activities both domestically and internationally. In 2005 she took on a position in the newly formed Global Portfolio and Corporate Services department where she oversaw all project activities of the investment management areas of the organization. In 2007 she helped establish the Complex Securities Review Committee and has been the Secretary of that influential committee from its creation.

In the fall of 2014 she took on the new role of VP of IMSS Project and Data Management. This new department provides expertise and leadership in project management and data management for the Investment Management division.

He has an extensive operational background that has led to a specialization in data governance, data management tools and practices, and business intelligence.  Jeb spent many years within the operations and distribution teams at Janus and four years ago moved into the investments group.  He has led numerous business and system implementations as well as several enterprise wide data efforts.
Joann Banks

Ms. Banks joined TCW in 2016 is the Vice President of Enterprise Data Management and has spent her career specializing in the design, implementation, and management of complex data utilized to inform investment decisions, regulatory reporting, and client reporting. She has a unique perspective that enables her to discern the root cause of an issue, and can solve on both a macro and micro level. She has utilized her skills to improve processes and efficiencies in small to large asset management firms managing in excess of $844 billion representing a myriad of asset types including Emerging Market Debt, U.S. Treasuries, Domestic and Foreign Equites, Equity Options, Derivative Products, U.S. Municipal Bonds, Annuities and Structured Products. She has hired, trained, and managed teams to oversee these processes several times in her career.  Joann has broad experience and insight in Performance Measurement standards and reporting. She possesses the knowledge and skill to design, build, implement and maintain Performance Attribution for internal and external clients utilizing Eagle STAR/Pace, Barclays Point and FactSet to that end. 
 
When Joann is not working and innovating, she spends most of her time with her husband and two daughters in their hometown of Downey, CA.

With more than 25 years experience in software development, big/fast data computation and data science, John has held engineering and leadership positions at Overture, Yahoo, Fox Interactive Media. He joined Ticketmaster from the Rubicon Project where he was the CTO building innovative solutions in the area of computational advertising. He joined Ticketmaster to bring the power and legacy of advertising technology into the live event industry.

Since joining Ticketmaster he has built cohesive and independent teams building software in areas such as abuse prevention, distributed commerce, personalization and marketing. Mr. Carnahan has been a founding member and key contributor to many open source projects. Mr. Carnahan has been a researcher and author in a wide range of disciplines including machine learning, distributed computing and quantitative genetics for over 20 years.

Prior to joining Bank of the West Chris held management roles at GE Capital, DIAGEO, and Georgia Pacific, focused on data management, governance, and business intelligence.
Chris holds an MBA from New York University, Stern School of Business with specializations in Strategy and Finance.

He is responsible for data processing from supplier data to data integration and for the construction of data quality tools used in computer models for asset management. He started work in Machine Learning more than 20 years ago, when Machine Learning was seen as an alternative statistical tool to extract relevant knowledge from noisy data. One current topic of interest is how recent advances in Machine Learning may change or add constraints to data processing and knowledge management in the financial industry.

As a senior financial services executive she has extensive experience leading organizations to leverage their data as a key strategic asset.  Over the past several years she has spent her time transforming business processes into innovative solutions driving towards data management and governance practices.  In addition to that she is a subject matter expert in risk and regulatory activities such as data aggregation, stress testing, and regulatory reporting strategies.
Prior to her role at Bank of The West she was at GE Capital in various leadership roles across technology, concentrating in data management, data quality, and business intelligence.

Barbara is a member of the Enterprise Architecture leadership team. David Goldberg

For the previous two years David served as the Chief Data Governance Officer at Bank of the West (a subsidiary of BNP Paribas) responsible for launching and building a successful Data Governance function and Data Quality program for the Bank in support of its successful first CCAR submission.   David was previously a Senior Program Manager at BNY Mellon responsible for leading the firm’s Enterprise Client Data Management Program,  a strategic initiative to build a firm-wide Client Reference Data Master utility.  Prior to BNYM, he was Global Head of Counterparty Data Operations at UBS Investment Bank and he spent the early part of his career at JPMorgan Chase (and predecessor firms) in a variety of leadership roles in Counterparty Data Management, Credit & Lending Administration, Syndicated Loan Operations and Credit Risk Technology.
David earned a BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania/The Wharton School and completed an MBA at City University of New York.  He was also a member of the SIFMA-led Working Group that completed the Industry-wide Requirements for a Global Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) Solution.

Jennifer Griffis

Jennifer Griffis is the Data Quality Program Lead of the Global Data Governance team at JLL, a financial and professional services firm that specializes in commercial real estate services and investment management. She is responsible for establishing and rolling out a global data quality program to JLL’s Corporate Solutions clients. Her responsibility includes establishing the program structure, operating model, SLA’s, data quality rules, remediation guidance, etc. Her stakeholders include global and regional data governance teams, executives, business intelligence, service lines, etc.  Prior to her current role, Jennifer was the head of the Data Governance Program of the Americas Region of Corporate Solutions at JLL. She built the team to help the clients move into RED, JLL’s strategic application platform with integration of operational systems and business intelligence. Jennifer established the data standards and data migration requirements for each client to drive financial benefit and improving customer satisfaction.

Jennifer started her career as a data analyst over 10 years ago in a fortune 200 healthcare company where she established a data quality and governance program. She rolled out clinical and patient metrics to support predictive analytics. Jennifer later joined a supply chain management team and established another ground-up data quality and governance program focused on the customer and product master data management.

Jennifer graduated from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA with a Bachelor of Science in Computer information systems. She currently lives in Denver, CO with her French and English bulldogs.

Previously, Dan has worked as an independent Oracle Certified Professional consultant in both front and back-end development capacities. David Newman

David Newman is Strategic Planning Manager, Senior Vice President, Innovation Group at Wells Fargo Bank.  David also chairs the Semantic Technology program for the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Council and leads the Council’s efforts to develop ontologies for the financial industry known as the Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO).  FIBO is a free and open source ontology that semantically describes business entities, derivatives, securities, loans, corporate actions and metadata.  FIBO is being developed as the next generation global financial data standard.  FIBO can be used to support macro-prudential and institutional risk management, regulatory compliance and reporting, risk analytics, as well as serve as a foundational set of semantic building blocks for enterprise data models and taxonomies.  It therefore provides a solid basis for strategic fulfillment of BCBS-239.  David is also responsible for the working group that is developing executable reference ontologies that demonstrate FIBO’s many advanced capabilities.  In addition, David is starting an initiative to position elements of FIBO to be available for semantic markup of financial content for internet sites through a collaboration with Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.  David is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on semantic technology as well as at regulatory and academic conferences on systemic financial risk.  At Wells Fargo, David focuses on emerging technologies and innovation initiatives and leads the Wells Fargo Semantic Technology Community of Interest.

Andrew Salesky

He was responsible for managing and evolving large client-service teams, redesigning operational flows, public
relations & marketing, executive management, and supporting enterprise-level business reorganization. Joshua began his career with
Investment Bank’s JP Morgan Chase and Bear Stearns before leading operations management, business process improvement, controls management, system implementation, industry representation, fund setup, and regulatory support for Hedge Funds Blue Mountain Capital and Citadel.

Joshua is an active industry participant and speaker having worked with and chaired working groups with ISDA, ISITC, SIFMA AMF, and other industry groups. These topics include Derivative Operational Processes, Dodd-FranK/EMIR/MiFID II Regulatory Impact, OTC Clearing, and Operational Efficiency. Scott Sovine

Mr. Sovine has more than twenty years of technology experience that has included retail software development, Internet startups, data warehousing and project management. During his time with Microsoft he obtained two patents with his fellow inventors in the data management space and built several solutions that improved Windows 7 stability. His current focus is managing project and data initiatives for Parametric where he is leading the master data management and stewardship programs. Mr. Sovine graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems.

Before joining CUNA Mutual group, Harsh spent many years working in information technology, analytics and data intelligence. He worked at Capital One Financial Group in Plano, Texas, for 17 years where he most recently focused on creating an effective data and business intelligence environment to manage risks across the company as the Head of Risk Management Data and Business Intelligence. He has also served as the Divisional CIO for Small Business Credit Card and Consumer Lending, Head of Portfolio and Delivery Management, Head of Auto Finance Data and Business Intelligence, Business Information Officer of Capital One Canada, and Analyst –Senior Manager of Small Business Data & System Analysis.

He brings significant and broad business knowledge, combining data mining, analytics and technology infrastructure with deep business understanding to drive actionable strategies. Having managed multi-functional, multi-cultural and multi-geographical teams, Harsh has a deep passion for diversified team management. He focuses on developing high potential performers into leaders, while leveraging their expertise to create sustained performance.

A native of India, Harsh earned a B.S. in Mechanical engineering from Mysore University in Mysore, Karnataka, India, and a M.B.A. in Finance / MIS Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
