11:25 Storytelling Session | A Cross Functional Perspective on the Data Management Journey

The data management story at Franklin Templeton Investments has had several milestones. In 2007 data was seen as a promising asset and a team of data librarians was assembled and directed from the IT side of the business. After a bit of a bumpy road, senior leaders agreed in 2013 that the business needed to drive and own data and a new approach was born to bring data to the business side and develop a new structure for governing data. Over the last year and a half the data council has prioritized integrating governance and stewardship into the company culture while identifying key areas of focus. During this session, three data leaders will share the story of maturing the data management program and competing as a key priority.
Speakers will share thoughts and experiences on:
• How to best get the ear of the executive suite and align with business goals
• Competing as a key priority across different lines of business
• Shifting from implementer of processes to strategist and thought leader
